Hello everyone Today, in this blog, I would like to share my impressions about taking a course in literature online. The course was developed by Rebecca Bullard, and was aimed at an in-depth study of poetry with a variety of videos and tasks that develop the skills to look at poetry from different angles. It was very interesting to try to write something yourself, as well as to read the opinions of other participants of the course and see their impact. At some points it was difficult, as some of the verses were incomprehensible, but it was necessary to develop your imagination to leave a comment or complete the course. In the first week, it was very interesting to learn about the techniques of attentive reading. To ask different questions, you can re-write with other users and I advise you to do this! Close reading – the practice of reading slowly, intensely, and reflectively – can help us experience poetry on a deeper level. We call it ‘close’ reading because it brings us in towards the text, helping us to see it from new perspectives. One important aspect that I liked is that after each new topic, one of the practical tasks was to share your impressions and feelings, which really immerses you in the course itself. I really advise you to take the time to complete different courses that will be of interest to you. I wish I were human that will develop such a de course

Good afternoon! Today I would like to share with you my impressions of the book "The Girl on the Train", written by the beautiful British writer Paula Hawkins. The novel, written in the genre of psychological thriller, really captures readers, especially those who like to read detective stories. This is an exciting psychological drama that describes the difficult lives of several women. The main character is going through a breakup and kills time by riding a train. Once she witnessed a crime, but no one believed her words. If you read this book on a trip, it would be so that you would imagine yourself in the place of the heroine. «If I were you»
The book is narrated on behalf of three women-Rachel, Anna and Megan. The book tells the story of a girl whose life literally collapsed - she could not get pregnant, her husband left for another, was fired from her job and eventually sank to the bottom of alcoholism and lying to her flatmate, who kindly sheltered her. Every day, she drives to the city center, pretending to work. And on the way, she always passes the house of her ex-husband and another-the house of a married couple who, in her opinion, is perfect in every way. If we talk about the main character, she is definitely not the person to take an example from, but I feel very sorry for her, I understand her pain. She needs the help of a psychologist who will get rid of her bad habit.
Now I want to focus on the plot in more detail. During the train ride, Rachel always looks out the window at the married couple, whom she calls Jess and Jason. They live near her former home, where she lived with her husband, Tom, and where he now lives with his new wife, Anna, and their child. Rachel is going through a very difficult divorce, which, as she believes, she herself provoked. One day, she notices a stranger in one of the houses and sees that Megan, whom she constantly watches, is cheating on her husband. And then it disappears. The police are looking for her. And Rachel could have helped with the investigation if she hadn't been drinking so much. After all, from the fact that she gets very drunk, she loses her memory. I would like to mention an interesting fact that I really liked, namely that in the book they constantly jump between Rachel, Anna and Megan. Each girl tells how she sees the situation from her side. Very interesting technique.
I really liked the book, it is easy to read, the description of the characters and situations is very detailed and interesting. I advise you to read it, but I can say that the novel is more suitable for women than for men, but it is still worth paying attention to this work. I would like to suggest you to read the best works of this author

Essay on the topic of officer's honor
While reading any work that touches on a certain historical period, especially the military, you immediately want to analyze the lifestyle of officers, people who have passed such a difficult period in their lives. The personality of these people fascinates with their confidence in their words, which often stand above their whole life, since the loss of honor is the worst nightmare for real officers "Know that, no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, you can count on me. I will never leave you." Not every man is able to give his life for a promise, but every self-respecting officer will stand up for every word spoken, with his honor.
Revealing this thesis, I would like to turn to the story of Robert Louis Stevenson "The Adventure of the Hansom Cab". Stevenson is a Scottish writer and poet, author of adventure novels and novellas, the largest representative of neo-Romanticism. This work shows the lives of respected people-British officers who have their own experience, their own stories, but lead to one thing: that the performance of duty, following the dictates of conscience give the person that moral status, which is reflected in the concepts of "dignity" and "honor". As Shakespeare wrote: I would like "Honor is my life-they are fused into one, and to lose honor is for me the same as losing my life." to summarize the aspects that were reflected in the story, since this topic demonstrates the difference in personal qualities in the period of that time, which has reached the present day. It is important to see that people who have faced war, murder, and death face to face demonstrate their indifference to ordinary life, as help, a duel, a spoken promise replaces their main interest in life, which loses its meaning if men put their honor at risk.
It is important that one of the characters, namely Lieutenant Brackenbury Rich, is shown as a man of honor for whom this is in the first place, has unwavering views and principles. Such a person adheres to moral rules, respects the views and opinions of other people. A person of honor is characterized by such qualities as sincerity, honesty, decency, conscientiousness, and valor. Honor is a very valuable quality that evokes the respect of society and an individual group, is earned through personal merit and strong moral principles. Naturally, over time, views and opinions change, not only on a specific story, but also in general, because in our time it is quite difficult to meet a person of honor. Because this is an era of selfishness, greed, arrogance, and disrespect. Honor disappears if you ask the younger generation what it is-few people will give the right answer. Most people have no idea what it is.
For some, it seems incomprehensible from some point of view, wild, but this was the main task of the author to demonstrate the life of that time and the strength of character of men who were distinguished precisely by the fact that they did not lose those strengths that were driven into them with the help of life's difficulties. If he promised, he will definitely do it, and if he is not sure that he will be able to fulfill it – he will not promise. " This is the main message, if we analyze the character of the officers in such stories."
In conclusion, I would like to add that we are all different. We have different lives, different experiences, different views on life. In the analysis, I would like to show exactly that group of people for whom life has become equal to honor, dignity, since after passing certain moments of life, you are assigned a life status. The status of any respected gentleman is a man of honor.

❤ Comparison of a play and a story
I can say that the
performance is really brilliant, it's nice to look at the actors and their
professional approach to the action, but at the same time you can notice, a
departure from some of the main themes of the novel, which resulted from the
focus of the first half of the plot on the Creation instead of the creator. We
can note the strong metaphors that the performance conveyed: the origin of a
person, his rights, the ethical component of scientific research. Turning to
the story, you can catch what the actors were able to convey plot: Dr. Victor
Frankenstein creates a Monster by breathing life into a body created from the
parts of various deceased people. However, horrified by the ugliness of his
creation, he leaves it to its fate. A lonely, ugly, childishly innocent monster
expects trust and love from the world, but everywhere it encounters only anger,
cruelty and hatred. Finally desperate, the Monster vows to find its creator and
take revenge on him in the most terrible way.
In conclusion, I
can say that both the work and the performance deserve the interest and
attention of many. 💘💙💚💛

Hello everyone Today I would like to tell you about an interesting and important topic in English!😈Subjunctive Mood
Subjunctive Mood – a mood that, using the forms of a semantic verb, expresses a possible, intended, desirable but unreal action or state, as well as the subjective attitude of the speaker to them.
Present Subjunctive: The subjunctive mood of the present tense (Present Subjunctive) in its formation coincides with the form of the bare infinitive of the semantic verb. The verb to be is used in the form be for all persons and numbers. This form of mood indicates a conditional action related to the present or future.
It is necessary that he go to the hospital. – Необходимо, чтобы он пошел в больницу.We suggest that the meeting be postponed. – Мы предлагаем отложить собрание.
The Present Subjunctive is also used in some stable expressions.
Past Subjunctive: The Past Subjunctive has only one form for the verb to be – the were form for all persons and numbers. The Past Subjunctive is used quite often in modern English and can refer not only to an unreal action in the past, but also in the present and future tense.
I wish I were rich and famous. – Я хотела бы быть богатой и знаменитой.I would help her if she were in need. – Я бы ей помог, если бы она была в нужде.Mom wished we were nicer to each other. – Мама хотела (бы), чтобы мы были добрее друг к другу.
Subjunctive II : (or the analytical form of the subjunctive) is formed using the auxiliary verbs should (rarely shall), would or may (might) and the bare infinitive of the semantic verb. Since these auxiliary verbs were formed from modal verbs, sometimes they also convey a shade of modality.
I wish you would stop disturbing me. – Я хочу, чтобы ты перестал беспокоить меня.She moved to another town so that Jack might not find her there. – Она переехала в другой городок, чтобы Джек не нашел ее там (не смог найти ее там).
The subjunctive mood is used in simple sentences to express a wish, unreal desire, sometimes swearing and cursing, as well as in some stable expressions. In simple sentences, the Subjunctive I form is most often used, and such sentences are characteristic of literary speech.
The subjunctive mood is most often found in complex sentences. In such sentences, in most cases, the form Subjunctive II (formed with the help of auxiliary verbs) or Past Subjunctive (the form were from the verb to be) is used. The subjunctive is often used in conditional sentences to express an unreal condition in a subordinate clause or an unreal consequence in a main clause.
The subjunctive mood is also sometimes used to convey the speaker's emotional attitude to certain facts of reality. In such sentences, the auxiliary verb should is used with a certain infinitive of the semantic verb, depending on the context, it can convey surprise, misunderstanding, pity, regret, joy, etc.
I am so sad you should leave now. – Мне так грустно, что вы уходите сейчас.It’s strange I should never have met him before. – Странно, что до этого я даже никогда не встречал его.

In this post, I would like to talk about such an important topic as modal verbs and their use not only in oral speech, but also when writing essays or scientific articles. And this will help us my dog named Asya, who is very interested in this topic!😊
The first question is what exactly are modal verbs in English??? Let me tell you, modal verbs are verbs in the English language that differ from other verbs in that they are not used independently and do not denote a specific action or state, they reflect its modality, that is, the attitude of the speaker to it.
Modal verbs in English:
- can — мочь, уметь
- could — мог, умел
- must — должен, нужно, надо
- have to — быть вынужденным, быть должным, приходится, надо
- may — стоит, следует
- might — должен, следует, стоит
- should — мочь, мог бы
- ought to — мочь, мог бы
Rules for using modal verbs:
1) A modal verb is always used with a semantic verb that is in the initial form (must do, could see).
Example: I can type very fast.
2) Modal verbs have the same form in all persons and numbers. The only exception is have to, which takes the form has after the pronouns he, she, it.
3) Modal verbs always stand in the present tense (even in the context of the future tense), but some of them can take the past form: can-could; may-might, must-had to.
4) In negative and interrogative sentences, modal verbs are not used with auxiliary verbs, except for have to.
Example: I can’t do it, May I use your laptop? What do I have to sign?
Meanings of modal verbs:
Modal verbs can and could: Can — be able, be able, have the ability/ability to do something. Can is also used when we ask for permission to do something.
Could — could. This is the past form of the modal verb can. You can also use could to politely ask for something.
If you are sure that the event could not have happened in the past, use the form can't have + ending-ed / 3rd form of the verb.
Modal verbs must and have to: Must — must, must do something. Have to — it is necessary, forced to do something. The modal verbs must and have to indicate duty and obligation, but their meanings are different. Must assumes that no one forced you, and you yourself have made commitments and are responsible for them. Have to implies that you have to do something because the circumstances require it.
In a negative sentence, these modal verbs take on a slightly different meaning: mustn't expresses a categorical prohibition, and don't have to-an optional action (you can do or not do).
Modal verbs should and ought to: Should — should. Usually used in tips and recommendations, it is often a gentle way to tell someone what they need to do. Ought to-should. Synonym of should.
Modal verbs may and might: May — maybe, maybe. In interrogative sentences, suggests a more polite form of question or request.
